A rock drummer from Humboldt with a few Grammy nominations is all set to release a new album with his Hoobastank bandmates on May 25 -- their first LP in around six years. The forthcoming album “Push Pull” is produced by Matt Wallace, known for his work with another Humboldt-tied act: Faith No More.

“The significance of Matt had more to do with the fact that he worked with Faith No More, regardless of where (some of their members) came from,” Hesse said.

In the podcast Hesse discusses the upcoming new album saying it’s unlike anything they’ve ever done before.

The story begins at 6:54.

Hesse was born in Willow Creek and graduated from high school in Arcata. He’s been a member of Hoobastank since they started up in the mid-1990s.
