Humboldt Last Week is Humboldt County's award-winning weekly news podcast, plus new-alt-indie-radio.
Podcast listeners will hear "quick local stories" summarizing the previous week's top stories, delivering crucial community information that some may have missed or not yet heard.
Showing appreciation for the county's beauty, upsides, and potential, the program's mission is to prepare regular listeners with essential local information, conversation topics, and further reading topics.
In addition to the news podcast, listeners can discover new music. Humboldt Last Week Radio streams a new, alternative, and indie music radio station with high-quality audio and no commercials.
Myles Cochrane is the host and founder of Humboldt Last Week. With a Cal Poly Humboldt degree in journalism and broadcasting, he's spent well over a decade locally as a radio personality and reporter. Most notably he directed KSLG-FM and wrote for the Times-Standard before founding Humboldt Last Week.
The home base for the program is humboldtlastweek.com but it is also available via Apple, Spotify, major podcast networks, Redheaded Blackbelt at kymkemp.com, 99.1 KISS FM on Mondays, and the North Coast Journal at northcoastjournal.com.
Myles also loves interviews. In addition to chats with Humboldt’s regular newsmakers, over the years he's had the opportunity to interview a number of interesting people including NFL star Alex Cappa, musician Sara Bareilles, celebrity chef Guy Fieri, “SpongeBob” creator Stephen Hillenburg, actor and musician Billy Bob Thornton, actor Craig Robinson, NFL veteran Rey Maualuga, comedian Bill Maher, Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Band of Horses frontman Ben Bridwell, Awolnation frontman Aaron Bruno, musician KRS-One, Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion, Wayne Coyne of Flaming Lips, “Fight Club” author Chuck Palahniuk, “Eat Pray Love” author Elizabeth Gilbert, Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty of Slightly Stoopid, comedian Mike Birbiglia, comedian Dana Carvey, Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh, musician Michael Franti, Portugal.
